Abstract
In the apparatus for remotely measuring the three-dimensional vertical wind profile, the three components of the wind are measured using the successive orientation of the acoustic antenna (36) in three different directions by the automated control system (49) controlled by the microcomputer (47). The speed is calculated successively from the frequency shift between the oscillator (32) and the sound signal received by the antenna (36) is shaped by the processing chain (38, 39, 40, 41). The frequency shift is itself calculated from the average period of the signal received, by means of the mean period measurement device (42, 43, 44) controlled by the microcomputer (47) via the circuits (50 and 37). The apparatus is highly advantageous for measuring low layers in the atmosphere compared to meteorological towers and balloon sondes currently used.
