Abstract

The wave energy converter has an arm with a float (1) at the end, the arm being connected to the lower end of a housing which carries two pinions (3, 6) mounted on concentric inner and outer shafts (5, 8). The pinions are unidirectional due to the ratchets (4, 7). The ends of the shafts are joined to a bevel gear-box (9), with the right hand pinion being driven by the inner shaft. The left pinion is driven in the opposite direction by the outer shaft. The output shaft of the device is unidirectional.
