Abstract

The electrically operated locking mechanism has an annular plate armature which slides on a reduced axial extension of the rotor. Tongues received in grooves prevent relative rotation of the armature on the rotor extension, a return spring holding the armature in this latter repose position. Energisation of an electric circuit contg. the electro magnet causes retraction of the armature, thus allowing rotor movement under key authorization. A car door lock can include a radial piston action armature (22) of which an extension spindle enters a radial notch (24) in a disc (18) which is keyed to the rotor (15).
