Abstract

The rear wheel independent suspension has the wheel support linked to the chassis by two sets of swing arms (6, 7) with the spacing of the pivot points on the wheel support being smaller than that of the other ends on the chassis. The arms are inclined to the vertical by different amounts so that the distortion of the elastic pivots does not cause the wheel alignment to produce instability. The front arm is set at the shallower inclination than that of the rear arm, while the wheel support pivots are assymetric about the wheel axis.
