Abstract

The guarantee seal for a screw top bottle has a capsule made of thin material with a screw threaded top (2) matching the bottle neck threads, and a skirt (1) large enough to pass over the bottle threads. Inside the skirt is a cylindrical part (3) smaller in dia. than the skirt, with a set of eight equally spaced grooves (4) around it, open at the bottom. When the capsule is fitted onto the bottle neck, the skirt is pressed inwards to fit tightly into the grooves which it overlaps. This prevents the capsule from being unscrewed without distortion, giving a visual indication that the bottle has been opened.
