Abstract

The single pole electrical connector provides low contact resistance by means of a sprung insert. The male electrode consists of a tapered rod following a parallel section itself terminated in a recessed section for wire connection. The female electrode has a stepped cylindrical recess (3, 4) holding a pentagonal section sprung cylinder (7) split along its length and slightly flared (9) at its mouth. The sprung cylinder is trapped within the recess by an annular slot (6) at its entrance. The cylinder diameter matches that of the recess at its blind end (4) and is spaced away from the recess walls towards its mouth.
