Abstract

Attitude control of space vehicle is performed utilising exchange of kinetic moments between rotating wheels and the body of the vehicle. Wheels also permit storage of energy without degrading control performance. Identical contrarotating wheels are coupled to motors and generators. A switch permits connection of generators to a bus bar and torque control is effected by a detector sensing voltage difference relative to a reference voltage. The error signal is corrected and amplified to control the motor generators. Tachometer outputs are processed for calculation circuit. Input from the attitude sensor enables the calculator to determine the resultant kinetic moment for attitude control.
