Abstract

The heat-shrink sheath consists of a flat rectangle which when heated contacts in one direction (peripheral direction when wrapped around the cable) but not in the orthogonal direction (the longitudinal direction). The longitudinal edges of the rectangle have grooves. When the rectangle is wrapped around the joint these grooved edges come together with the grooves both facing outwards away from one another. A U-shaped clip slides along these grooves and holds the edges of the rectangle together. Pref. the ends of the U's arms have hooks that locate in holes in an end piece. The folded rectangle is then heated.
