Abstract

In a diffusion transfer photographic process for producing colour images, in which the exposed prod is developed with a basic compsn in presence of an Ag halide developer, the improvement comprises using as basic compsn one comprising a synergic combination of benzyl alcohol and a 2-6 C w-amino-alcohol in concns. sufficient to favour diffusion and transfer of the released dyes during processing, without dissolving the RDR cpd. The compsn has a pH of 10-12 pref. 10.5-12. Process gives positive or negative images from colour couplers contg sulphoamidophenol or sulphoamidoaniline, the residual image or the transfered colour image having improved sensitometric characteristics, in partic. low D min in the residual image and satisfactory D max in the transfered image.
