Abstract

The sliding doors of a lift are operated by an electric motor (4) which drives a crankshaft (6) through a pulley (5). The crank arm (7) is connected by the bar (9) to the door support rollers (11). The doors are locked in their closed position by a parallelogram linkage (14) which is automatically released by the initial movement of the crank arm (7). If the lift stops in between floor levels, guide rollers attached to the lift shaft hold the parallelogram linkage in its locking position so that the doors cannot be opened until the lift is brought back to floor level.
