Abstract

L'invention concerne la métallurgie. Le four faisant l'objet de l'invention est caractérisé notamment en ce qu'il comporte des échangeurs thermiques tubulaires 11, 20, 30, 32 placés à raison d'un dans chacune des cavités de refroidissement de la lingotière 1, de la plaque de fond 2, du porte-électrode 5 et de la chambre à vide 3, et raccordés à un circuit d'échange thermique à circulation, qui est rempli d'un fluide de refroidissement chimiquement neutre vis-à-vis du métal de refroidissement liquide et de l'eau. L'invention s'applique notamment à la fusion à l'arc sous vide de métaux à haute réactivité, tels que par exemple le titane et le zirconium.
