Abstract

The system seals a wrapping round a set of bottles, cans etc., this being folded into position and held by gluing two parts together. In conjunction with the gluing operation the two parts are mechanically locked together, thus pulling the wrapping tight against the set of items. There can be an edge strip folding on an outer base portion and with tongues cut out from the latter, engaging in locking apertures in the inner base portion. After folding the sheet of material round the items, the edge strip is bent downwards, and both base portions are folded under them, the tongues being inserted in the apertures. Glue is then applied to the edge strip, which is pressed against the outside of the inner base portion. The tongues hold the material tight, and protect the glued joint until this has set.
