Abstract
Wide band phase velocity compensated line coupling is for UHF use. The coupling can be unidirectional with a 20db rejection. Typically the pass band fmax/fmin=3 and the standing wave ratio = 1.38. Compensation is by one or two short inward facing studs (52, 53) extending from parallel strip lines (2, 3) on the surface of a dielectric substrate (1) which has a complete metal backing surface. The length of the stub in the direction of propagation is lambda/40. the space (e) between the stubs determining the amount of phase compensation. The studs can be introduced at the entrance to a Schiffman cell.
