Abstract

The heat output of the unit is between 10,000 and 40,000 cals/h and fuel consumption is 1 to 4.5 kg/h. The mixer head comprises an outer tube which consists of an extension of the heater's air intake, an inner tube concentric with the outer tube - closed at the end nearest the fan and joined at its free end to the end of the outer tube - and a disc slightly smaller in diameter than the inner tube and placed horizontally within it. A primary current of combustion air passes through holes in the closed end of the inner tube and a secondary current passes through holes near the top of the inner tube. The inner tube (2) is placed concentrically within the outer tube (1), separated from it by the annular space (4) the two tubes being joined together a their free end. Air passing into the annular space (4) forms the secondary combustion air current by passing out of the annular space through holes (5). Deflectors (6) ensure that the air current is directed towards the disc (3).
