Abstract

The rail-mounted trolley supports a transverse prim jack of which the inclination to the horizontal is controlled by a vertical sec jack. Horizontal and vertical springs fixed one end of the primary jack housing to the trolley, the secondary jack being attached to the opposite end from which the piston rod projects. A jack operated lever clamp is mounted on the free end of the rod, being used to grip the end of a sleeper. The free end of the housing incorporates an inverted 'U' formation which is placed over the rail section during jacking, thus, utilising the rail to resist jacking forces.
