Abstract

Shoes for cycling or motor cycling are made waterproof by including a latex coating and a layer of impermeable film between the leather lining and the leather outer surface of the shoe. A removeable cover can be secured by 'Velcro' (RTM - hooked pile fabric) fasteners to prevent water penetrating the lace holes. Shoe may include a sole reinforced with a flexible metal plate, orthopaedic pads and a sponge rubber lining to the heel. Intermediate films of thickness 0.1-0.5 mm may be incorporated. These are of e.g. a vinyl chloride or olefin homopolymer or copolymer.
