Abstract

The umbrella-like laundry spider possesses preferably two vertically adjustable sliding sleeves which are made multi-part (1, 2, 4) on the vertical tube and which are themselves provided with mountings for receiving main and auxiliary carrying arms of the laundry spider. The sliding sleeves contain a metal middle part (1) pivotably supporting the carrying arms and consisting of an extruded-profile portion with a central bore, the interior of which is provided with a plastic lining (10'). The latter is part of one of two closing parts (2, 4) which are made of plastic and project beyond the metal intermediate part (1) at the top and bottom and which prevent laundry knocked against the vertical tube or against the sliding sleeves by wind from either being damaged by the sliding sleeves or being soiled by these. Moreover, the plastic lining of the sliding sleeves prevents metal abrasion from occurring when the sleeves move along the vertical tube of the laundry spider.
