Abstract

The insulating glass unit has a glass pane (1) intended to be arranged facing the room side and a thicker glass pane (2) intended to be arranged on the weather side, between which panes a spacer (3) designed as a hollow profile is arranged. The spacer (3) has side walls (6, 6') which, only in the central area, have ridges (11) whose free end in each case has a rounded part (13). The spacer (3) and the glass panes (1, 2) of different thickness are connected to one another by means of a rubber-elastic adhesive sealing compound (14), whose thickness is slightly greater than the height of the ridges (11). In the event of the glass panes (1, 2) bending in the direction towards one another, the rubber-elastic adhesive sealing compound (14) arranged between the ridge (11) and the transverse wall (7) acts as a pressure-compensating intermediate layer, preventing notch stresses on the glass panes (1, 2) caused by the spacer (3). The sound insulation is improved by the different thicknesses of the glass panes (1, 2) and the avoidance of a direct bearing of the glass panes (1, 2) on the spacer (3) as a result of the interposition of the rubber-elastic adhesive sealing compound (14).
