Abstract

The interlocking concrete paving block has undulating sides shaped as circular arcs alternatively convex and concave. The long side of the block has eight arcs, and the short side has four arcs. Natural surface colour is obtained with washed or brushed exposed aggregate finish in red and black porphory, black basalt, red or grey granite, white or yellow ochre quartzite, marine flint calcined at high or medium temperature. The 22.8 x 11.4 cm blocks are 6, 8 or 10 cm thick, are stable enough not to need a concrete foundation and can be formed with an ordinary concrete base layer.
