Abstract

Bearing for the screw shaft of a water craft has a lining with cylindrical inner surface composed of a set of shells which are assembled by fitting together along their longitudinal sides. The shells are made of synthetic resin polymerised under high pressure. There is a covering of high-tension material enveloping the lining. The shells are pref. of asbestos-filled phenolic resin, shaped under pressure to result in a moulding of density 1.6. The envelope is of glass fibre-reinforced epoxy or polyester resin.
