Abstract

Indane-2-carboxylic acids of formula (I) and their salts and esters are claimed: (where R is (a) phenyl substd. by halogen, acetamido, dialkylamino, alkylsulphonyl, dialkylsulphamoyl and/or sulphamoyl, (b) thienyl substd. by halogen and/or lower alkyl, or (c) furyl substd. by lower alkyl). Also claimed are the dialkylaminoalkyl esters of (I) where R is thienyl or furyl, and the alkylaminoalkylamides of (I) where R is phenyl, dihalophenyl or thienyl. (I) are anti-inflammatory agents, analgesics and thrombocyte aggregation inhibitors with low toxicity (e.g. LD50 = 180-3200 mg/kg, mouse) and high activity, e.G. with an analgesic ED50 of 3-80 mg/kg (p.o. rat) and an anti-inflammatory ED30 of 8-160 mg/kg (p.o. rat).
