Abstract
An integrated energy system to service one or more dwellings comprises a combination of a wind driven generator, a solar energy trap, an atmospheric heat pump, and an energy storage device such as a pressure reservoir, batteries and/or a hot water tank. Pref. the generator drives a compressor and/or a rectified output for charging batteries for producing continuous power for e.g. lighting, pumping water or cooking. The atmospheric heat pump is used to intermittently boost hot water or space heating systems. The solar energy may be devoted to continuous or intermittent energy applications. The multiple systems are self compensating - e.g. wind power is generally available in winter but tends to fall short in summer conditions -- when solar energy is available. A typical average domestic energy load of 96 kWh per day can be satisfied by a combination of a wind generator capable of 50 kWh per day. (Backed by batteries capable of >=20 kWh per day), a heat pump with a capacity of 80 kWh per day and a solar energy trap with a capacity of 3.5 kWh per day (from a 4 m.2 trap).
