Abstract

Part of all of an electric lamp is enclosed in a coating of rigid or flexible transparent or translucent material, to provide protection of some or all components from e.g. vibration, shock, weathering, or to exclude dust, moisture, gas, and/or to provide electrical insulation. Used esp. for low or median voltage (2.45-24 V) torches, signal lamps etc. The coating may be of thermosetting thermoplastic or rubber material, pref. cast or moulded silicone rubber or a crosslinkable polyester resin.
