Abstract

A double plate (1) which is transparent to light at least on one wall side (2'), has luminous elements (6) arranged between the individual plates (2' and 2''), in which the plates (2) are joined to one another via webs (4) that are arranged parallel to one another and are perpendicular to the planes of the plates (2), and which consists of unbreakable, impact-resistant plastic material, provides a device which makes available a planar, preferably flat element, which emits light, in particular emits different colours, for the most varied applications requiring a rapid change of light or signals. Due to the basic shape, the double plate (1) has a stability such that it can be used, e.g., let into the ground or into a roadway, as a dancefloor in discotheques, or as a change signal in a driving lane. Depending on the special application aimed at, it is possible to introduce into the double plate (1) as luminous elements (6) neon or fluorescent tubes, incandescent lamps or chains, light-emitting diodes or stroboscope flash tubes, which can be supplied with current by a light control device. <IMAGE>
