Abstract

The sole retaining member (18) is articulated by means of a pivot pin (17) on a pivot bolt (14). The pivot bolt (14) has two recesses (16) in the form of joint pans, into which there engage tilting stops (15) which are rounded in the manner of a pivot pin and which are provided on a baseplate (1) fixedly screwed on the ski. The recesses (16) and the tilting stops (15) form a pair of joints which are fixed to the ski and arranged adjacently in the longitudinal direction of the ski. A tension bar (10) engages on a bolt (13) anchored in the pivot bolt (14) and carries at its other end a piston (8) against which rests a release spring (16) which, at its other end, is supported on a housing (4) fixed to the ski. The pivot bolt (14) and the sole retaining member (18) can be moved to either side about either joint (15, 16) fixed to the ski. In case of need, the front jaw disengages perfectly and at the right time, without incorrect releasing occurring in the event of the disappearance of the forces causing a transverse movement of the sole retaining member (18).
