Abstract

Appts. for the delivery of yarn to a circular knitting machine has yarn bobbins disposed on >=1 creel separate from the machine. The yarns are brought to the knitting feeds by means of a yarn guide and a positive yarn provider whose rotation is governed by a driving motor, Several yarns issuing from different bobbins pass through >=1 provided at the same feed rate. The min. path between the provider and the needles on the machine is of sufficient length to constitute a yarn reserve in the event of yarn breakage. The yarn has no other kind of positive feeding arrangement along this path. A precise and regular feed rate is established with a limited risk of a broken end of yarn reaching the needles, even where space is limited. It is possible to reduce the space required by using a single creel to deliver the yarns to a single yarn provider. The length of yarn between the provider and the needles constitutes a reserve which may largely avoid the unravelling of fabric.
