Abstract

A surface treatment process for a rod or a coiled tube in spiral form involves immersing the rod or tube in a liquid the coil being rotated within the liquid by means of a support shaft in an irregular fashion so as to provoke irregular relative movements of the different spirals wrt each other. The present treatment process can produce coiled wire and tube with surface qualities equivalent to those of uncoiled wire and tube when so treated and without deforming the wire and tube.
