Abstract

PRepn. of chemical paper pulps by delignification of the lignocellulose first comprises cooking with sodium hydroxide, then separating the fibres, and then cooking for a second time with an alkaline peroxide soln. which contains a peroxide stabiliser. The process is used to prepare kraft papers. The process is man-polluting partic. with regard to sulphur cpds. and chlorinated bleading agents. It is simple and requires no costly investment in equipment. It yields pulps of increased mechanical properties, good bleachability, and is improved yields. Partic. it yields pulps of good tear strength for packaging.
