Abstract

In the prodn. of cellulose from straw in a one stage process operating in the presence of O2, a mixt. of NaOH and Na2CO3, pref. in 1:3 to 3:1 ratio (calculated as Na2O) is used for pulping. The total amt. of NaOH and Na2CO3 pref. is 12-18% w.r.t. the wt. of dry straw. Delignification is achieved in one stage under a mild conditions as possible but it gives completely pulped cellulose.
