Abstract

Procédé amélioré pour l'obtention de phénol, à des rendements élevés. On opère par oxydation de l'acide benzoïque avec au moins un oxyde, hydroxyde ou carbonate de cuivre ou un oxyde de molybdène en présence d'un excès d'acide benzoïque et essentiellement en absence d'eau pour former le dibenzoate métallique correspondant, par chauffage du dibenzoate en absence d'oxygène et d'eau pour effectuer sa décarboxylation et pour former du benzoate de phényle, puis hydrolyse du benzoate de phényle avec l'eau pour former un mélange d'acide benzoïque et de phénol, le phénol étant récupéré dudit mélange Application à la synthèse de benzoate de phényle sans formation de goudron.
