Abstract

An armoured electric cable is sealed from exposure to the atmosphere by a double sealing system. The inner sheath (8) is gripped by the cone (2) which is clamped between the screwed fittings 1) and (12). The screwed fitting (12) together witha third fitting (21) clamps a split double coned ring (17) into the surface of the armoured layer (7) and so provides an effective earth connection. This earth connection is then sealed from the atmosphere by the sealing washers (23, 24) which are clamped by the tube nut (3). Any deterioration of the earth connection in service is thus prevented.
