Abstract

An electric resistance heating element (102) is held between two longitudinal plates (101). Each of these has a semi-circular recess which fits round one half of the element and two lateral fins which clamp tightly to the fins of the other plate. The outer edges of the plates are cut and twisted to form subsidiary fins (101a) to increase the heat emitting surface. The tube formed by the two semi-circular recesses has a larger diameter than the heating element. The plates are held to the element by isolating rings at both ends leaving an air gap over most of the length.
