Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à l'industrie verrière. L'invention a pour objet un verre à fort indice de réfraction (nd d'environ 1,700) et faible densité (environ 3,10 g/cm** 3), appartenant à la famille des silicates à forte teneur en titane et contenant également des pourcentages importants d'alcalino-terreux et d'oxyde de niobium, ce verre ayant un nombre d'Abbe élevé ( nu d d'environ 35) et présentant au surplus une très bonne résistance chimique comme attestée par une perte de poids en bain acide inférieure à 0,010 mg/cm**2 comme mesurée au test AO. Application dans la lunetterie à forte correction et dans l'optique embarquée sur engins.
