LEAD-FREE OPTICAL GLASSES HAVE REFRACTIVE INDICES ND OF BETWEEN 1.50 AND 1.56, ABBE NUMBERS VD OF BETWEEN 50 AND 64 AND HAVE THE FOLLOWING COMPOSITION (IN % BY WEIGHT, BASED ON OXIDE): SIO2 62-75; B2O3 5- 9.5; BAO 4.5-21; ZNO 0-16; CAO 0-0.5 (WHERE ZNO + CAO _ 0.05; BAO +ZNO + CAO _ 25); TIO2 1-7; NA2O 2-10; K2O 4.5-8; ZRO2 0-1; NB2O5 0-1; TA2O5 0-1; F- 0-0.5. THE COMPOSITION MAY INCLUDE 0-0.5% SB2O3 AND MAY BE FREE OF ARSENIC OXIDE.
