Abstract

L'invention concerne un pétrolier pour le transport d'une cargaison liquide ayant une densité inférieure à celle de l'eau, et il a au moins une cloison transversale disposée dans la coque et formant plusieurs compartiments étanches. Selon l'invention une cloison horizontale étanche 17 est disposée dans la coque entre le pont supérieur 13 et le fond de la coque au-dessus de la ligne de flottaison 18 du bateau 10, et à une distance au-dessus du fond de la coque qui est inférieure ou égale à H(Sw /S c ), H représentant la hauteur verticale de la ligne de flottaison au-dessus du fond de la coque, Sw représentant la densité de l'eau et Sc celle de la cargaison liquide; la cloison 17 forme des citernes supérieures et inférieures séparées 19 et 20, les citernes supérieures ayant une hauteur verticale inférieure à celle des citernes inférieures.
