Abstract

A tape measure conains a spool on which the measuring tape is wound and from which it is unrolled. It is designed for practical easy measurement of a given dimension and to enable reliable error reduction. It is simple and robust and resistant to dust, moisture etc. during use. A wheel rotating synchronously with the movement of the measurement tape activates an electron detector of equiangular wheel marks. An electric counter supplied with detector output signals is connected to a visual digital display giving accurate indication. The wheel is driven by equidistant slots in the tape into which teeth on the wheel project.
