Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out measurement quickly and accurately by a method wherein a pulse is generated correspondingly to a delivery length of distance measuring wire for a tape measure at a given interval, and the pulse signal is divided to counting.
CONSTITUTION: A wire 5 drawn out of a tape measure reel 4 is wound on a pulley 6 and coupled to an external measuring terminal 5 on a side wall 1 of the tape measure. A disk 8 provided with slits 8 is mounted on a rotary shaft 3 of the pulley 6, and a pulse signal corresponding to rotations of the disk 8 is outputted through a pulse signal generator 7 consisting of a light source and a photoelectric cell 9. The pulse signal generated correspondingly to a delivery length of the wire 5 is divided on a frequency dividing circuit 10, and a length corresponding to a count of the output is indicated on a display 11. Thus the measurement can be made quickly and accurately.
