Abstract

Procédé de préparation d'une composition polymère/polyol fluide et stable, caractérisé en ce qu'on polymérise, en présence d'un catalyseur à radicaux libres, un mélange réactionnel comprenant : 1. d'environ 10 à 40 % en poids d'un monomère à insaturation éthylénique ou d'un mélange de tels monomères, 2. d'environ 60 à 90 % en poids d'un polyoxypropylène polyol normalement liquide ayant une masse moléculaire moyenne en nombre d'au moins 400 environ et un indice d'hydroxyle d'environ 20 à 280, lesdits pourcentages en poids de monomère ou de mélange de monomères et de polyol étant exprimés par rapport à leur poids total, et 3. un stabilisant préformé compatible avec le polyol et présent en une proportion suffisante pour stabiliser le polymère/ polyol résultant, le stabilisant étant un copolymère comprenant : a. une portion d'ancrage constituée par un polymère du monomère ou du mélange de monomères définis sous 1 chimiquement fixé sur b. une portion solvatable constituée par un polyoxypropylène ayant une masse moléculaire moyenne en nombre d'au moins 800 environ.Process for preparing a fluid and stable polymer / polyol composition, characterized in that, in the presence of a free radical catalyst, a reaction mixture is polymerized comprising: 1. from about 10 to 40% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer or a mixture of such monomers, 2. about 60 to 90% by weight of a normally liquid polyoxypropylene polyol having a number average molecular weight of at least about 400 and an index of hydroxyl from about 20 to 280, said percentages by weight of monomer or mixture of monomers and polyol being expressed relative to their total weight, and 3.a preformed stabilizer compatible with the polyol and present in an amount sufficient to stabilize the resulting polymer / polyol, the stabilizer being a copolymer comprising: a. an anchoring portion consisting of a polymer of the monomer or of the mixture of monomers defined under 1 chemically attached to b. a solvatable portion consisting of a polyoxypropylene having a number average molecular weight of at least about 800.
