Abstract

The load on the fork of a fork lift truck is held steady by a pressure plate (11). The pressure plate (11) is supported by a lug (13) which is attached to the ends of the arm (7) and bar (14). A parallogram linkage is formed by pivoting the other ends of the arm (7) and bar (14) to the slider (5) mounted on the upright (3). A jack (9) raises or lowers the arm (7) which in turn raises or lowers the pressure plate (11) which is maintained in a horizontal attitude by the parallelogram linkage. The height of the pressure plate can thus be adjusted to suit the load. With loads of widely varying height the position of the slider (4) on the upright (3) is changed and fixed to its new position by bolts through the holes (17).
