Abstract

The system produces a laser beam (3). The emission spectrum of the beam includes a large number of different wavelengths. As many as 80 different wavelengths may be used. An analyser, e.g. a spectrometer, receives the reflected beam through the gas and determines the wavelength of the absorbed rays and their absorption rates. A convex lens (5) is mounted in front of the analyser (4). The atmospheric pollution detected in the region of a chemical works include : sulphur anhydrides, oxides of nitrogen, and metallic salts.
