Abstract

The metal strip is fed through a pair of rolls rotating on horizontal axes in the same vertical plane; and the upper roll is located between the legs of a bridge formed by metal plates. The plates are fixed in a detachable manner, e.g. by bolts, to a top plate rigidly bonded to a sleeve which can be moved along a shaft in the longitudinal direction of travel of the metal strip. The pair of rolls can easily be dismantled and re-essembled.
