Abstract

The microwave antennae is rotatable through 360 deg. and requires a min. of alteration to the aircraft for its installation, it forms a complete enclosure having low aerodynamic resistance. The antennae consists of two metal horizontal planes (5, 6) forming a shallow cheese, the plane edges having an approximately parabolic form. The side wall (4) completing the enclosure on one side is metal and reflects the energy transmitted from a central slotted waveguide (2) through the remaining wall (3) which is a dielectric. The design can be varied such that the transmitting wall is only partially dielectric and the waveguide may be replaced by one or two horns.
