Abstract
A compensating element, consisting of a flexible polyurethane foam, insert is incorporated in a solar energy collector comprising a heat exchanger mounted in a rigid foam insulating body. A supplementary insulation, e.g. a thin sheet, of aluminium, may be put between the heat exchanger and the insulating body. Problems associated with differential expansion between the heat exchanger and the rigid foam are avoided. The composite body is simple to mfr., light, easily transportable and easily installed.
