Abstract

A quick dressing or bandage comprises a support tape having on one side an adhesive layer and a support layer for wound prepd. from a cloth of spun fibres based on rayon fibres. The adhesive layer, pref. porous, is pref. based on polyacrylic esters or copolymers of these. The support is pref. made of a porous polyester fibre cloth, free of binder, prepd. by the spun-laced process. The absorption capacity of the support layer for blood/water is about 15 g/gm. about 5 times that of normal cotton. The support layer has all the required properties such as good absorption, air permeability, sterilisability, no adherence to the wound, and no irritation; also the layer absorbs the secretions from the wound in a largely irreversible manner.
