Abstract

The key-operated lock works in conjunction with a number of coaxial rotors, each with a notch accommodating a lengthwise bar holding a rotor driving the bolt except when the notches are in line. The first rotors are rings (14 1-20) turning inside the second rotor (12a) and each with a protrusion engaging in a curved groove in a key inserted lengthwise in the passage formed by them. When the correct key is inserted, it brings the notches in the outside of the rings into line with each other, accommodating the bar in them. The bolt-driving rotor is thus unlocked from the stator. The key groove can be sinuous in shape, while the protrusions engaging in it are V-shaped.
