Abstract

The tooth correcting brace which uses a strip of metal (2) fitted around the tooth (1) as in the main patent, has the ends of the strip overlapped (3) and fitted with a clamp. This consists of two jaws (4, 6) each mounted on a carrier plate (4a, 6a) permanently attached to the ends of the strip. One jaw (6) has a toothed plate (7) attached to it, with the teeth passing under the other jaw (4). This second jaw (4) has a spring mounted underneath, with one end bent downwards to engage the teeth. This acts as a ratchet system to engage the overlapping ends as they are tensioned. The second jaw (4) may carry a tubular piece (10) for connection of the wire brace.
