Abstract

The drive and control for a type wheel (5a) includes an electric motor and a friction coupling (2). The wheel has two radially arranged stops (6, 6a) displaced by two symbol spacings which interact with associated tabulating stops (8, 8a). - The wheel is stopped for as long as is necessary for a selected symbol type (23) on the end of a radial arm (24) to be struck by an electromagnetic striker unit (13). The mechanical tabulating system is a ring or circle and the complete system is designed to operate effectively using conventionally made components.
