Abstract

Heat treatment of mineral particles, consists of removing the moisture by heating to a temp. below the sintering temp., sintering and then cooling the particles in separate rotary preheating and heating chambers. The heat treated particles are cooled in a gas stream and the gas so heated is recirculated to the rotary preheating chamber. The finely divided starting material is heat treated to a moisture content of =18% and then pelletised. The installation can be constructed in several relatively compact units which are small enough to be transported between sites and sufficiently in their working condition to allow dor adaptation to clays, schist, for producing expanded particles, careths, river muds, wastes, sands fly ash lime, bauxite etc.
