Abstract

A bobbin holder of the type that is suspended from above, and is provided with a spindle for insertion in the bore of the bobbin, is braked by means of a spring loaded disc. This is positioned above a dust cover for the outer race of a ball bearing on the spindle, and applies a constantly uniform load. Both ball race and brake disc are enclosed by a cowl which provides the anchorage of the pressure spring. The action of the brake is not affected by the size of the weight of the bobbin. The bearing is fully protected against penetration by airborne fibres.
