Abstract

Printing head for matrix printer has a number of printing needles each made of a length of round section needle wire (21) secured at one end to a hollow section, e.g. tubular rod (25a). A head (24b) secured to the free end of the rod is engageable by a electromagnetic armature for operating the needle. The wire and the rod are supported in respective guides (12, 14). A return spring (23) for the needle is arranged between static structure and the head. Instead of tubing, half-round or channel section material may be used.
